In my ongoing struggle to setup some sort of remotely manageable system
to run my WG2.0 BBS on... I;ve come to the question "Will wg2.0 run on
Windows 2000/xp"?

I know it is possible to run WG2.0 in older versions of windows, like
95/98. But what about 2000? 2000 doesnt really have DOS anymore, like
9x does. Is it possible to make it run without some sort of virtual
machine?

Thanks!

not on a NT based OS because it won't let it make direct hardware calls.

Man, how do you know all this? :P

I thought that might be a problem. If the drive were formatted as fat
instead of ntfs, would it make a difference?

Wind98 is still an option, just thought 2K might offer a more stable
platform.

Thanks!

Also, does wg care about fat16 vs fat32?

I ran/run mbbs and wg.
it's not the file system, nt don't handle 16bit code very well, and the
programs were written on a 286 compter. and are not made to run on a nt
based os which won't allow direct hardware calls. now wg 3.2 was written
on Windows Nt 3.51 and can handle a NT based os. but still will have some
problems on xp and higher which don't do 16bit code very well anymore.
