I was wondering if anybody remembers or plays or has played this game.
If so, perhaps you can identify or answer some of the questions I have
regarding the issues I've encountered in the game.

I've just begun to play this game again and have re-discovered its
apparent bugs.

First off, corpses can sometimes spawn new monsters. Especially if you
drag a corpse. I'm not sure what is causing this except maybe how the
game programming links corpses to monsters incorrectly.

Secondly, random items appear during the game as can be seen while
walking around or swimming in the ocean. Sometimes these spawned
random items will be in unreachable places. For example, inside a
wall, or at the bottom of the ocean wall area etc. This is probably a
bug as well, the program isn't error checking where the item is
randomly placed. Or perhaps I don't know it yet, but there is a
telekinesis spell which allows you to take items stuck in the walls?

Next, I have found that the condition of being poisoned seemed to be
broken. I was poisoned once by a wyvern and died after one "5 second"
turn. I had over 100 hps left and I had killed the wyvern. I also had
the cure poison potion in my sack and was about to retrieve and use it.
Does anyone know why this happened?

This game's documentation is definitely lacking and many aspects of the
game I think are unexplained and mysterious. For example, there is a
blacksmith in town but nowhere does it describe how to interact with
this character. Other interaction anomalies are with NPCs including
the sheriff, Liz, or priest. Does anyone have insight into this?

It's kind of odd that I have such a keen interest to a game like this
even with all its problem issues. Maybe it's just that I had at one
time played it and just wish it can be completed one day.

Thanks in advance,

Johnson Chen

Johnson, this game was produced by Logicom in the 1993-timeframe. It
was a very good beginning to what promised to be an excellent game, and
was one of the earlier games in a series of ANSI 1/4 screen RPGs.

The problem was that a company (I forget offhand, I have the details at
home) sued Logicom, claiming that the game was too similar to a game
(board game, I think) they produced, and Logicom was issued a cease and
desist order.

Rather than change the game, or fight it, Logicom pulled the game from
the market, and the game was not sold when Logicom sold off its ISV
catalog game by game back in 1997. Don Arnel's lost all copies of all
of his source code, meaning, unless I can track down another one of his
programmers who happens to have it, I can never include this product in
my restoration project, and it's lost forever.

Sorry for the bad news.

I do as well, but having a copy doesn't do you much good. Nobody has
the key generators, and it won't work on future releases of the
software. Since nobody has the source code, it's dead.
