I just had a land line installed and there is some static on the line.

I am trying to get hyper terminal to send an AT%Q command so I can get some reading of the line quality.

Anyone know of an answer or another method.

Thanks.

When the last hurricane hit the Houston area, power was out for up to 2 weeks for many people and cell phones were out for a couple of days.

POTS was always on.

You might want to re read my post.

I dumped my cell phone and went to a landline.

To help others, POT means plain old telephone.

It's pretty reliable since they have their own power supply and it's a little harder to tap despite AT&T giving our govt. their own room to listen in.

I asked a postal employee how was it going having to photocopy every mail piece that goes thru their system.

It must take a rather large hard drive to store all the junk mail. :-)

i read your post just fine. landlines are no more reliable than cell towers.
phone lines can break and interruption in services happen.

makes me wonder what you are doing if you are so concerned with
being watched.
